A downloadable game for Windows

Divinity's Crown

An adventurer receives an artifact from a servant of the gods, with the instructions to lead the people through the coming dark times.  Over time, the adventurer will begin to gather a harem of followers that will grant the hero additional powers.  As the adventurer started life out as a commoner, he will have to  navigate  his way through the social class system into nobility and build a new settlement. With a small area of land to work, the hero will have  a place to house the large group of followers. Upgrades to the settlement will open up additional powers  and resources for the hero to use in the battle against the darker times.

Additionally, AI Generated images are present in the game but as development moves forward, they will be replaced with drawn art by my artist. The timeline on that is going to be rather slow going forward but that's the plan anyway.

For those interested in supporting the game, we finally have a Patreon for those that want to keep track of progress with the generative images being replaced with proper, consistent art.
Patreon: Divinity's Crown

Also, we now have a Discord Server for the game.  Those of you that enjoy talking with the dev team, talk with like minded players about their thoughts on the story and characters, or want to share their own fan-art, may enjoy this little space on the internet.
Discord: Divinity's Crown

Finally. Divinity's Crown is heavily inspired by the games Harem Collector by Bad Kitty Games and Harem RPG Remake by Ker and Kuroki. My writing is nowhere near as good as either of theirs. I am looking for an assistant writer that likes the direction the game or story is going and wants to help it grow.

Okay. After working out this bug with Azsouth, there is a hard error, it will actually lock you out of progressing after completing the investigation of Wandermere. In the morning I will be putting out an update and a patch to fix this. For those of you that have gotten to this point, your save file should still be fine.

Alright. The April 8 patch is up. It will fix a critical screw-up on my part. These things happen sometime. It fixes the error during the Refugee quest, locking you out of the ship to return to Bradford. Just unzip the file and overwrite your Divinitys Crown folder with the patch folder, as it only contains the games Data files. Your current saved game should be intact. It also fixes a bug with the Oddly Dun quest causing a soft-lock if you completed the quests in a different order.

Big thank you Azsouth for pointing out the critical error stopping you from completing the game and RobZombieZ for pointing out the error with the Oddly Dun quest. A large apology if these errors to the game caused any of you to feel sour towards the game, reporting your finding have gone a long way to making the game a better experience for everyone and I can't thank you all enough.

Also, I'm opening up the game to potential modding of the game's scenes and character busts. If you're an artist and want to try your hand at making your own variations of scenes or characters, PM me and I can share the repository with you, after that, send me your image file and I'll package it as part of the community mod for people to download and enjoy.

after the convo with the thief in your inn room right before the diner quest with lavender, when i try to leave the inn after taking the stair down to first floor i get frozen. game runs in background but i can't open menu. i can't move.i tried to see if i could go to test room to get around it but apparantly you didn't think to add in a fix for issues like this..a simple fast travel from test room would fix it

Yes, someone on F95 reported the same bug. I'm trying to recreate the bug but not having any success.

Alright, I tested it, I looked at everything. I know what's happening, but I don't know why. The event is activating Oddly Dun at variable 6, a part of her quest that happens much later in the first arc. I don't know how it's activating for you just after game-start.

Does it happen after starting the game and not talking to the maid in the storage room and starting the quest Oddly Dun?

i talked with everyone and did every guild quest leading up to it.i have unlocked lavender the mage and the bard.the last thing that happened was we caught the thief in our room looking for the box right before i was going on the date with lavender at the cafe. we let the thief go and went to sleep. then when i leave i get frozen as soon as i enter the stairs

Yeah. It sounds like it's trying to activate the event again, somehow, for your character to walk up to the counter and talk to the guy by the desk. I'm not sure why though. If you are on the discord server, I could send you a map file to replace the Inn bedroom that could possibly patch that for you. I tried to recreate that bug, but I didn't have any luck.

there is a bug along the SFW path in the beginning of the game, a skip for the scene wit the couple in Morris Village. I'll be fixed in the next build, sorry to those of you playing along that path.

Okay. Almost ready for the next update. File should be up tonight for the 7th of March. The Patreon will have the next wallpaper set, free to anyone who wants them. The discord also has wallpaper extra's that aren't on the Patreon. I don't feel like I got as much done for the march build that I would have liked, but I also didn't want to rush things or put too much on my desk if I wasn't going to be able to get it done on my own. I hope the March update is to everyone's liking.

The February release is almost ready to come out. Lots of small changes, some larger. Hopefully players are receptive to the update.

I've been thinking, after seeing my wife play Octopath Traveler 2. Should Divinity's Crown have voice acting in it? Or would that distract to much from the game? I want to know what you think about it before I consider this seriously.

That'll depend on what all you'd want for your game, my own is gonna have voice acting so maybe it might make Divinity's Crown more interesting, key word being might.

Agreed. Also, there's a cast of over 30 characters total. That would be a nightmare to integrate.

Well, I'm getting a lot of work done on the third arc now. I had to do a bunch of minor edits after a lot of thinking. Had two plot holes pop up that needed fixing. But now I have solid plans ready to add a bunch of new characters. It'll be fun introducing them.

The dating system might not be added until I'm ready to do the rewrite for the story, after draft one is complete. I want to ensure there is a beginning, middle and end before I get lost working on reworking the dialogue and characters. After the first draft is complete, I'll open the eastern half of the empire to the player to meet the rest of the characters and expand the story further.

Thank you again for everyone being patient while I work on the game.

I created a post a little while back, on Lovers Lab, some place to have more long form discussions regarding any thoughts you may want to share.

LL Divinity's Crown

So, fun fact: I created a plot hole and spent hours trying to patch it, just to realize a patch job was not going to be acceptable to me or to the player base, sooo... I did a full rewrite to fix it. What should have just been a fix to the lore for the gods and reason for magic amongst humans and a believable reason for the elves disappearance in history, now solidifies how the gods work and their relation to humans and their path in their world. This will go a long way to build a richer and more defined story for the players to explore. It should also make writing the world a lot more enjoyable too.

Okay, minor update to the game. I figured I needed to get something uploaded as I have been so busy with other distractions. I'm getting back to working on the game more regularly again.

Out of curiosity, how would you like to see some of these scenes rewritten when I go back and do that? I'm not super happy with how a bunch of the scenes turned out but I didn't want to stay stuck on them so I just pushed them through so that I could continue the game forward. At some point I want to go back, with a proper writer, and rework a bunch of the scenes to give them better context, world building, lore, all that.

Sorry I haven't had another update out in a bit, should be one coming soon, just have to figure out how to do this one scene.  I've been stumped on it for a bit.

hey is the great distroyer main quest bugged? theres a large rock just after the first manitory with the main partys route. theres clearly a path should take but said large rock prevent me from passing. is this a bug ir is that just to prevent progress until update?

I'll look into it, I remember it working, but I do need to play through it again as I've changed a bunch of things since then. Thank you for taking the time to post what you've found.

Looking over the quest in Great Destroyer, it doesn't appear there are any boulders that you can't push out of the way. The treasure room with the boulders (I'm assuming) is the one you're referring to. There is supposed to be a block pushing puzzle in there but I'm having trouble getting that puzzle to work so I just lowered the rope on the side with the treasure right to the floor. When it is working, you would have to push the boulders to make a path for you to cross over. I hope that helps for the time being. If there is a different boulder you are refering to, something that is impassable and is blocking the path somehow, please do let me know.

I need to put out another update here soon, but I've been stuck on a scene. I'm not sure how I want to do it. It's a bit of an important scene, the hero being promoted to lower noble. If you have any thoughts, I'm open to hearing any of them.

Thank you, I'll try to figure out why it's doing that

Ok, Due to an NW.js error, the July 28 build doesn't work. I've fixed it on my end and it should function again as soon as I get the next build out. Sorry for the problems from my end.

So. I'm finding, after finishing a really tough part of the game for the characters, I want to rush the next section but I think there needs to be more down time for the party to relax. Possibly thinking of adding a few scenes with some of the nobility, allowing the players to experience just how corrupt the nobility is.
I think what I need is to see someone stream the game and see how they react to the story so far and get their input.

So, working on the game some more. Finally got the Relationship menu to work, but I had to switch the engine from 1.5.2 to 1.6.3. This has caused a bunch of new issues. I can finally Play-test in 1.6+ but if I go into the Database and do a test battle in the Troop tab, it just opens the game in Test-Play instead of just starting the fight. If I go to 1.5.2, then I can test play just fine and I can battle test in the Troop tab just fine, but the relationship plugin crashes out.
The joys of working on a game alone.

Well, with the help of my wife, we're going through the game now and adding more music, adjusting the feel of certain scenes. The right music can make a scene flow more appropriately. Having her help on this has been good as I'm unable to feel the same way. Those scenes now play out a lot smoother. Also, we're noticing a scene that happens with Lavender will need to be pushed much further back into the game's story as it's currently happening far to early. Another thing that has come to my awareness is the file size limit for Itch. They permit a 1 gigabyte file size and the April 11 and April 28 builds are hovering right at that line. I may have to host the game on another site and just place a link here. Either that, or break the file up into parts with instructions to overwrite DC-A, DC-B, DC-C in that order.

Finally, I apologize for the janky structure of this post. I don't know why it's like this. All attempts to get it to format correctly don't seem to have any effect at all. Best I can tell it's just the site conflicting with the web browser.

Well, the April 11th build is out. Finally got past my writers block and managed to get back to working on the story again, fixing stuffs. Trying to work on new mechanics for the game, but I'm not 100% sure how to implement all of them.

if there's a will there's a way. you just have to want it enough to work hard for it. do your best and i'm sure the support will follow. you have set the bar pretty high taking inspiration from harem rpg remake. i believe you can make something equally as good. do you?

Thank you. And yes, I really am hoping I can make something that lives up to that quality. I'm not confident in my writing at all, but I really love the characters I made for the game and have a bunch of interesting story ideas that I want to explore. I just have an issue where I feel like I'm rushing to much as far as moving from one region to the next too soon. I have the game structured better now so I can go back and add more content to each region much easier than before.

Ok. Minor update to the game. Completely redesigned the collectable cards into a portraits system now with its own menu in the main menu list. For the April 1st build, you can access all portraits by interacting with a card on the table in your room.
Also, I am still looking for help with the game as I'm struggling to work on it alone. If you like the direction the game is going, please contact me and maybe we can work together.

So, got my steam back. Still sick but the brain fog has passed and I've started working on the game again full time. Really enjoying being able to work creatively again. Got a bunch of bugs fixed, including a serious soft-block issue. Also managed to fix the bedroom scenes so the room is no longer flooded with stationary npc's.

Sorry there haven't been much in the way of updates. Going from Bird Flu into Covid has really sapped my ability to do anything constructive or creative with the game. Having an assistant writer right now would help immensely.

Alright, a new update. We may have an artist that is willing to replace all of the generative images with CG's. It will be a little while before any of that makes it into recent builds as we have to work out certain details first, but it's looking promising.

The 2025 Feb 23 update is a pretty small update. Added a new quest for the Ranger and tied up some loose ends for the Chemist, also added some more lore to the Crown.
Been sick since December 1st with the bird flu, then on Valentines we all got Covid again. So it's just been one illness into another and I haven't been able to do any meaningful work on the game at all.
Still looking for an assistant writer or even just people to brainstorm ideas with. PM me if you're interested.

I got a bunch more work done on the game today.  A long quest chain that handles two of the characters quest along with more lore on the Crown.

First! And you might want to add spaces between the words?

Oh, I tried, the formatting of text is really dumb. I don't know if its the site itself or my web browser but it refuses to align the words in the description correctly.
